Websites, client portals and custom web apps

Some businesses need a site that finally represents them. Some need a portal so clients stop emailing for updates. We work out which one you are before quoting either.

The reality

The website is rarely the actual problem. It is usually the thing you notice first.

  • Your site was built in a weekend three years ago and you have been apologising for it since.
  • It looks fine on your laptop. On a phone, where nearly everyone sees it, it does not.
  • Clients email you for updates you have already sent, because there is nowhere for them to look.
  • The process that runs your business lives in a spreadsheet only you fully understand.
  • You have been quoted for a rebuild that solves the design and none of the operations.
  • Nothing on the site tells anyone what you charge, so every enquiry starts from zero.
What we build

Not a package. A system that fits.

Marketing sites and landing pages

Fast, mobile-first, and written to say what you actually do. Built so you can update the copy yourself without ringing us.

Client portals

One place for your clients to see status, documents, invoices and next steps — which removes most of the "just checking in" email you field every week.

Dashboards

The internal view of your business you have been rebuilding by hand: live numbers, current status, and the two or three figures you actually make decisions on.

Custom web applications

When the process that runs your business does not fit an off-the-shelf tool, we build software around the process instead of bending the business to the software.

Wired into your automation

Everything we build connects to the systems behind it, so a form submission or a new booking flows straight through instead of landing in an inbox for you to re-key.

Findable by default

Server-rendered pages, per-page metadata, structured data and a real sitemap — the plumbing that decides whether anyone finds the site at all. This one we learned the hard way on our own.

How it works

We don't guess. We diagnose.

  1. Step 1

    Free strategy call

Thirty minutes, no obligation. We map how your business actually runs — the tools, the handoffs, the bits held together by memory — and agree what is worth doing.

  2. Step 2

    Diagnose and plan

We work out what you actually need, which is not always what you came asking for. You get a written scope with a fixed price before anything is built.

  3. Step 3

    Build and integrate

We build it and connect it to what you already use. You stay involved at the decision points without being buried in the detail.

  4. Step 4

    Go live, train, support

We train whoever needs training, watch the first live week closely, and stay reachable afterwards. We do not build and disappear.

What it costs

Web projects start at £500 for a small, fast, properly built site that says what you do. Beyond that the price is driven by scope rather than page count — a landing page and a client portal are not remotely the same job, and a custom application is different again. Most projects run 3–8 weeks. You get a fixed written quote after the strategy call, and we will tell you if what you are asking for is more than you need.

Straight answers

Questions? We have answers.

How much does a custom web app cost for a small business?

Our web work starts at £500, though that figure buys a small site rather than an application — a genuine web app sits well above it. What decides yours: how many distinct user types, how much of the process is genuinely bespoke, and whether it has to talk to systems you already run. A focused single-process app is a materially smaller job than a full platform. You get a fixed number after the strategy call rather than a range that moves later.

Do I need a web app, or would a better website do?

Most people who ask us for an app need a website plus two automations, and we will say so. An app earns its cost when there is a repeated process with real logic in it — bookings, approvals, client-specific data. If it is mainly presentation, a website is the cheaper and better answer.

Can you work with the site I already have?

Usually yes. If the foundation is sound we improve it rather than charging you for a rebuild you did not need. If it is built on something that will keep costing you, we will explain why and let you decide.

Who owns the code?

You do. We hand over the repository, the accounts and the documentation at the end of the project. There is no arrangement where leaving us means losing what you paid for.

What about hosting and ongoing changes?

We set hosting up in your own accounts so the bills and the control are yours. Small changes are covered by optional support from £199/month; plenty of clients handle their own content and only call when something structural comes up.

One partner

Most clients need a combination.

These are three expressions of the same partnership, not three products. We work out the mix on the call.
